Frequently Asked Questions

  • What equipment do I need?
    • A competition swimsuit, goggles, towel, and water bottle. Girls should wear a one-piece swimsuit. Team swimsuits from past seasons are great practice suits. We encourage everyone to consider gifting, trading, or selling their used suits once their swimmers no longer fit them. Kickboards and other gear are provided, but you are welcome to use your own.
  • My swimmer has an ongoing conflict with his/her age group’s practice time. May he/she practice with a different age group?
    • Yes, but for safety reasons, please first talk with the head coach about what practice would be the best fit.
  • My swimmer has a one-time conflict with his/her age group’s practice time. May he/she attend a different practice?
    • It is okay to miss a practice if you have another commitment. If you would like to make up the practice then please talk with the head coach to determine if it is necessary and to find the right age group to practice with.
  • My swimmer is not quite able to swim the expected distance. What can I do to help him/her?
    • Our coaches provide private lessons outside of practice for all ranges of ages and abilities. Find out more.
  • What is the best way to find out about weather-related cancelations?
    • Download the Swimtopia mobile app and enable Push Notifications. Coaches or Board members will send out notifications via email and the mobile app when there are updates regarding practices.
  • Will practices be made up after weather-related cancelations?
    • No, the practice schedule is a fixed agreement with the HOA and we cannot add additional practices that would conflict with recreational swimming opportunities enjoyed by all Brighton Forest residents.
