Practice Policies
- Pool rules require that children younger than 13 years old are accompanied by an adult, not including the coaches. Do not drop your swimmers off or allow them to come to practice alone unless they are 13 or older.
- Arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time and be ready when the coaches call your age group.
- Don’t attend a practice with a different age group without first consulting the head coach.
- Allow the coaches to do their jobs. Please avoid distracting the coaches or hovering around either end of the pool while practice is ongoing. The coaches need to be focused on the swimmers – particularly the younger age groups – and have room to operate to ensure the safety of everyone.
- If you have a question or comment for the coaches, please contact the head coach by email or approach him before or after practices. You may also ask a Board member. We’d love to try to help.
- Swimmers who are disrupting practice or refusing to swim will be asked to leave. We ask parents to keep an eye on their swimmers to help remove them if necessary. It’s okay to have a bad day, particularly the younger swimmers. Try another day.
- Practice will be held in light rain. Once the coaches decide the rain is too heavy, practice will be canceled.
- Practice will be halted due to thunder or lightning. Practice will resume once 30 minutes have passed without thunder or lightning and the lifeguards have cleared the team to begin again. Practice will be held as long as an age group can practice for 30 minutes. Practice will be canceled once it is determined that the age group can’t practice for at least 30 minutes. Storms have been known to arrive and pass quickly. Unless you have received a cancelation alert, please attend with the expectation that you will have at least a partial practice.
